I read with sadness that Nigerian business moguls Aliko Dangote and Jim Ovia said they will "withdraw from aviation sector in Nigeria and invest in Kenya".
It is with grief that I read it because like every Economist knows, such investment is a loss for Nigeria (Jobs and GDP) and a gain for Kenya. When the Nigerian nation is still wallowing in poverty, Isn't it amazing that instead of investing in the local economy, these astute business men are going overseas?
I do not blame these men because capital will always seek places of highest return. Investment in the Oil and Gas industry in Kenya while the Nigerian Oil and gas industry is froth with pilfering and underdevelopment must indicate that a better policy exist in Kenya. What is most laughable about the Kenyan adventure is that it was organized by the Nigerian Government. What are they thinking?
Electricity and power continues to be an impediment to industrial renaissance in the Worlds most populous black nation. The Government of Good luck Jonathan need to rethink their strategies.
